Big Momma's House 2 is already out? Part of me thought they'd save it for the blockbuster summer season.
I think a lot of the moviegoing experience is watching something with a lot of people. You're willing to put up with a lot more, in terms of stupid comedy. I probably wouldn't have liked Elizabethtown (or, for that matter, Big Momma's House 1) if I hadn't seen it with a lot of people who just wanted some dumb laughs. It's also why watching SNL becmomes so grating with people who don't get it. This mass mindset would describe a lot of things, actually.
Hope your moviegoing experience gets better in the year ahead. I can't imagine it could get much worse than last year (knock on wood). Personally, I'd rather see 30 bad sequels this year than sit through one more tedious remake. Jeez.
